Biographical
Tom Duncan received his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and from 1972-2006 he practiced with Hill, Evans, Duncan, Jordan and Beatty, a general practice firm in Greensboro, North Carolina. Until 2003 he specialized in business litigation, professional negligence, personal injury, and workers compensation and since that time he has devoted his practice entirely to mediation. He opened his own mediation practice in 2006.
Mr. Duncan received his mediation training at the Duke Private Adjudication Center and also completed the Harvard Negotiation Project at Harvard Law School. He has lectured on alternative dispute resolution at various continuing education programs and has mediated some 6,000 cases. He has been listed in Best Lawyers in America and North Carolina Super Lawyers in the area of alternative dispute resolution.

Rates Information
Effective November 15, 2024 - Professional negligence, including medical malpractice and nursing home neglect $400 per hour; complex ligitation, including business litigation, insurance coverage, estate litigation, eminent domain, civil rights, product liability, wrongful death and major personal injury $350.00 per hour; workers compensation $320 per hour; and all other matters $295 per hour.
An administraive fee equal to the hourly rate is charged in every case, even if it is not mediated. This fee covers the cost of opening and closing hte file, scheduling a mediation date aand reporting the result of the mediation to the Court or Industrial Commission.
Cancellation fees are charged as follows:
Within 30 days of mediation: 1/2 day $375; full day $525.
Within 10 days of mediaiton: 1/2 day $475; full day $675.
Travel time outside of Greensboro: $295 per hour.
