Biographical
My experience as a construction and complex litigation attorney gives me a practical knowledge of the law that helps me quickly grasp the facts and understand each party’s perspective. I have mediated over three thousand cases in both state and federal court proceedings, as well as pre-suit disputes, and I believe in the process. I utilize an active and evaluative approach to my mediations, and I believe the parties benefit from my independent and experienced insight. My objective is to quickly and accurately identify the interests that each party in the litigation is seeking to protect. There is inherent value in the parties having a hand in crafting a resolution, and my ultimate goal is to push the parties to resolve every dispute prior to trial.
In my construction litigation practice, I represent Owners, Design Professionals, General Contractors, Subcontractors, and Sureties. This gives me the ability to view and understand construction disputes from different perspectives and to quickly assess the issues and evaluate the risks. This experience also helps me efficiently mediate multi-party disputes and work with the parties to design a mediation process that maximizes the potential for resolution.
In addition to my mediation practice, I regularly serve as an arbitrator. I offer early neutral evaluation (“ENE”) services to help parties focus on the issues in a dispute from the outset and evaluate the merits of the claims. I also provide neutral case management services in multi-party disputes where the parties need the assistance of a neutral facilitator throughout the course of the pending litigation process.
